Book Launch & Author Talk: “The Weight of History, the Power of Apology”

May 24 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

How do you right an historic wrong? Can you ever really accept reparations for the evils of the past? Fifty years after the 1972 Munich Olympic massacre, Cajun author Warren Perrin explores the devastating terror attack and the murder – and legacy – of one athlete in particular, Jewish Tulane weightlifter David Berger, in his new book, “The Weight of History, the Power of Apology.”

About the author: Attorney Warren Perrin, founder of the Acadian Museum, is a skills professor at Loyola Law School. For 16 years he was President of CODOFIL and filed a petition for an apology from Queen Elizabeth for the Acadian Deportation resulting in the Royal Proclamation. Perrin was awarded the French National Order of Merit and an honorary doctor of laws degree. He is the author of ten books and represented the US at Francophone Summits in Romania, Moncton, Quebec, Vietnam and Switzerland. He was inducted into the LA Justice Hall of Fame, has received the UL’s Outstanding Alumni Award and awarded the Lifetime Contribution to the Humanities, and was appointed to the  Diocese of Lafayette Historical Commission which prepared a report for the Vatican for the canonizations of the “Cajun Saint” Charlene Richard and Auguste “Nonco” Pelafigue.
