Preserving Rosenwald Schools Field Trip

April 21 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

MSJE is going on the road! Join us on a field trip to the River Road African American Museum in Donaldsonville, LA, home to one of the few restored Rosenwald schools still standing today. The closing event of our Rosenwald Series offers an unparalleled opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal look at a Rosenwald school and hear from historians and advocates working to preserve the Rosenwald legacy. A round-trip paid charter bus will bring us to River Road, where we’ll hear a panel discussion featuring historians Kathe Hambrick and Jeanne Cyriaque and exhibit photographer Andrew Feiler. Lunch will be provided, and participants will get a chance to explore the restored school. For those unable to join in person, the panel will be streamed on Zoom. This is a paid event with Member discounts. Participants also have the option of taking their own transportation and meeting us at River Road for a reduced cost of $30/participant.
