Rosenwald Alumni Panel

MSJE is honored to welcome alumni from Louisiana Rosenwald schools to discuss how their personal experiences as students in the Rosenwald network impacted their lives, educations, and futures. Join us to hear first-hand narratives from a significant moment in history, and to interact with Southerners who were directly impacted by Rosenwald’s philanthropic work and his partnership with Booker T. Washington.

About the panelists:

Dr. Rose Cooks is an alumnus of Rosenwald School DeQuincy in DeQuincy, LA. She has a BA from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA and an MA from Wisconsin State University and McNeese State University. Dr. Cooks taught English and history in Louisiana parish schools for 18 years before moving to teach in the Catholic diocese. She is currently serving as principal of Eternity Christian Academy Learning and Training Institute and as co-pastor at Eternity Full Gospel Fellowship Church.

Frank Taylor is an alumnus of Mt. Nebo Rosenwald School in Monroe, LA. Now an area historian, he is part of a community effort to install a historical marker commemorating the school at the Mountain Nebo playground, which stands on the site of the former school. The marker is scheduled to go up this summer.
