Southern Jewish Stories: Atlanta & New Orleans
April 13, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Join us for a lively conversation between two Southern Jewish icons: Historian and community activist Janice Rothschild Blumberg of Atlanta, and Rabbi Edward Cohn of New Orleans.
Janice Rothschild Blumberg has been at the crucial intersection of Jewish life and Southern history for over six decades in her roles as rebbetzin of the Temple in Atlanta during the turbulent 1950s and 60s, learned historian and author, civil rights activist, and community leader.
Rabbi Edward Cohn, Rabbi Emeritus of New Orleans’ Temple Sinai, has been intimately involved in Jewish life in the New Orleans region for over 30 years, serving as the founding chairman of the New Orleans Human Relations Commission, president of the Rabbinical Council of Greater New Orleans, and chair of the New Orleans Holocaust Memorial Project among many other leading community roles.
Their discussion will range from the historical to the personal, touching on watershed moments in American history and the inner lives of Jewish leaders in two uniquely Southern landscapes.
